Ceramic braces are a great choice of orthodontic treatment tools for both children and adults as the ceramic brackets match the color of your teeth making them less noticeable. Today more teens prefer ceramic braces as they are more discreet compared with metal brackets.
Treatment times, comfort and appointment sequence are the same as traditional metal braces. Ceramic braces today are as strong as metal braces. At Dr. Tosun Dental Clinic, we offer the highest quality of ceramic brackets providing excellent results every time.
What are the benefits of ceramic braces?
- Less noticeable because brackets match the color of the teeth.
- They adhere to teeth as strong as metal braces.
- No discoloration throughout the treatment as the ceramic brackets are stain-resistant
- At Dr. Tosun Dental Clinic we use tooth-color wires and ties to make your braces less visible and noticeable.
Do ceramic braces stain during treatment?
Ceramic is a natural material and does not stain with food or beverages. However, the clear elastic ties that are used to connect the wires to the brackets may stain certain type of foods with strong tannins such as curry, turmeric, saffron or an excessive amount of coffee, tea or red wine. Smoking tobacco products also is a major factor causing staining on the elastics and braces. At Dr. Tosun Dental Clinic we always encourage our smoking patients to consider other options and also change the elastic bands at the monthly visits to keep them clear and unnoticeable.
Do ceramic braces damage my teeth during debonding?
Absolutely not! Ceramic braces are bonded on the teeth with the same adhesive used for traditional metal braces. During debonding, the ceramic material may crack due to pressure applied by the pliers but does not cause any damage to the tooth enamel. After debonding the adhesive stayed on the enamel surface will be cleaned and the surface will be perfectly polished back to its original condition.
Will there be any stains on my teeth after ceramic braces are taken off?
Ceramic braces or adhesive is not harmful to the enamel of the tooth. However, consuming acidic drinks such as soda or fruit juices and lack of hygiene during orthodontic treatment could cause inflammation on the gums and white spot lesions which are harmful to the enamel. At Dr Tosun Dental Clinic we pay close attention to your oral hygiene.
Are ceramic braces weaker than metal braces?
Ceramic and metal braces are bonded on the teeth with the same type of adhesive and there is absolutely no difference between the two materials’ bonding strength on the enamel. However, certain hard and sticky foods such as apple, nuts, popcorn, chewing gum or toffees should be avoided throughout orthodontic treatment not to damage the braces.
